19-2 started it all...
So over the holidays I have been going through safe inventory, and I was reminded of why I became so fond of pre-1981 Smith and Wesson revolvers. My first Smith came to me through a good friend 3 years ago to date; over Christmas. I was convinced to take in this 4" 19-2 for a good price, and after a few weeks of handling and admiring its amazing craftsmanship, I knew I was hooked and the so called "slippery slope" of collecting Smith's had begun.
I also realized I hadn't taken any pictures nor shared this beauty here on the forum. This 19-2 dates to 1968, and shows extremely well. It wears a stunning set of S&W smooth presentation target stocks that just compliment that deep, high polish bluing Smith was known for.
Happy New Years folks!

My 19-2 from early 1963 is my favorite handgun. It is such a joy to shoot.
Yours is beautiful.

Awesome 19! Just oozes greatness. I really like those pins holding the front ramp.

Oh man! I've been looking all over area gun stores for a nice 4" 19-2 or 19-3 for weeks. Had my sights on one on GB but lost the auction. Someday... You have an extremely nice example there!

Wow, that gun is really nice! Thanks to the OP for the pic.
My first S&W came to me about seven years ago from my dad, who was moving out of his house into assisted living, and decided to pass his revolver on to me. It's a first year issue (as far as I can tell) Highway Patrolman...non original (but appropriate) grips and non-original finish. A shooter that is solid and presentable. I hate to admit it, but I've kind of lost track of how many S&W revolvers I've purchased since then.
Happy New Year everyone!

Wow. That should be against the law! Unless it was mine. Ha. Very nice. Have a happy new year. I have a 19-3 nickel but doesn't compare.

The -2 is feeling the love and is flattered. I figured after 3 years in the safe, she was overdue for some sharing and a few glamour shots.

That is really nice ! I have 2 of them, both shooters and shoot they do. If I get a chance to grab one like that, you can bet I will. The really good ones like yours are sitting in safes across the country.

I have never owned a 19, but that 1, is sure a "BEAUTY"! What does the other side look like? The closest thing I have is a 66-2, 2.5". Bob

Gotta love that stainless snub! I'm sure it makes a great carry piece that you can have some fun with and clean up quite easily at the end of the day. My 66's are a blast to shoot; I always bring one to the range with me.

19-2 started it all...
That may be the nicest Model 19 I've ever seen! Thanks for sharing the photos.
