I'm trying to figure out the value of a blue steel, .38 cal, revolver. At one time I had NRA and Smith letter ref serial numbers, etc. Can anybody give me a ballpark ? I'd like to sell it. BTW. it does shoot and is accurate.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Everyone here will be glad to help but you have given no information about your revolver. Take a look at the link below and it will be very helpful when identifying your gun and asking questions.

That describes several hundred thousand S&W revolvers and isn't much to go on. :)

It's most likely a .38 Military & Police/Model 10, the most common police issue revolver of the time, so it all comes down to condition. It could be a heavily worn-down $250 shooter or a nice collectible worth $500 or more. Pictures would help.

Please post images if possible. Do you know which department issued the weapon ?
