Gents,

Just picked this up locally, 12-2 Airweight. But the question is, is this a Pinto? The ejector star is blued. I'm not very well informed on these so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks much, PF

Absolutely beautiful!! Nice grips too!! I couldn’t tell you if it’s a factory Pinto but it is gorgeous.

According to Standard Catalog of S&W 4th edition a 12-2 Pinto, blue frame, nickel cylinder and barrel or reversed is valued at 50-100% more than a standard 12-2 which ranges from $200-$650.00.
Premium for 2 inch barrel too.
Congrats on finding that beautiful gun.

It's a cool gun. It looks like some stainless parts were fitted to an airweight frame.

EDIT: With the barrel marked, it looks like you may have a legit gun there. I would letter it to be sure.

Is that stainless or aluminum?

Doesn't really matter, it's gorgeous!

I too think a letter would be in order for your gun. Looks like it's in really good condition. You would feel the weight if the cylinder was SS. And as noted the barrel is not SS marked "airweight". The letter will be your confirmation as an original pinto.

WOW---THAT IS A GORGEOUS LITTLE REVOLVER, WHATEVER IT IS ! ! !

IMHO, IT WARRANTS A LETTER FROM HISTORIAN ROY JINKS, TO DOCUMENT ITS CONFIGURATION, WHEN IT WAS SHIPPED.......

By the time the -2 came out the cylinders were not aluminum, and I'm sure the barrels never were.
