Well, I'm finishing 2018 off with a bang. I just bought a 6" barrel 28-2 on GunBroker this evening to go along with the 4" 28-2 I bought yesterday off GB.:eek::eek: I have my complement of model 28's now to go along with my model 27 herd.

This year I started off with a really nice 3 1/2" barrel 27-2 package that came with the original box papers and unopened tools, plus the seller had picked up a presentation case with tools too.

Next, I ran across a nice 29-6 Classic at a LGS for a decent price. It was nice and tight and low round count. I've added a nice set of round to square Culina Targets in Bubinga wood to it.

Last month I found a nice nickel 6 1/2" barreled 29-2 that I bought off GB. I have a set of Culina targets on order for it also as I find them much easier on my hand than the stock S&W targets with a hard recoiling gun like a 44 Mag.

To finish off the year, I've just bought a couple of 28-2's to go along with my model 27's. Yesterday was this 4" barrel 28-2. It is a late S serial number, S317XXX. Pic is from the auction.

Today's damage was this 6" 28-2. It's an early 5 number N serial, N44XXX. BTW, the magnas in the picture are numbered to the gun. Again, the pic is from the auction.

So you all, who else picked themselves up one or more Smith and Wesson revolvers this year. Tell us about your acquisitions and feel free to post pics of them too.

I'm also adding a poll to this thread for kicks and giggles.:D

Gosh, I'll have to think this one over...."Was it five or six? In all the confusion I can't remember!" ..... There was a nickle plated Colt Detective Special, a S&W 4506, a Charter Arms Bulldog, a Star BM 9mm, .... A Colt Peacemaker .22, a S&W Combat Masterpiece, now my mind is going blank... I'll have to get back with you guys on this one!!

(Sorry, I just saw that we are only counting Smith and Wessons....and only revolvers at that....oh boy...that's ok..I won't vote in the poll until I figure out the right answer!!)

Well, anyway, here's the Combat Masterpiece:

2018 was a light S&W buying year for me as 2016 and 2017 I was doing a very good job of rebuilding my post divorce S&W collection. I am very pleased at where my collection is at the moment. Now if I come across a S&W that is priced right and I find interesting I might pick it up, that was how I picked up the three S&W revolvers that I picked up in 2018. I also stepped up and joined the Smith & Wesson Collectors Association in 2018.

Started the year with a 6" M10-5 with a nice set of football targets

For my birthday present to myself I found a 3" M66-3, I could finally use those round butt banana targets that I had bought in the late 90's

And for a Christmas present to myself, this 3 1/2" M27-2 came into my life

Sometimes quality over quantity will get you some nice things.

I only bought two guns this year. One counts in your poll. The revolver is a beautiful 629-4 with 6 1/2 inch barrel. It’s my first ever revolver purchase to go with a couple model 19’s from dad. Friday’s range trip actually had more revolvers than semi’s.

Mudd, they're taking good care of you on the rig, you're on fire!! I slowed down this year compared to the last few but I'm very happy with what I did bring home.
I grabbed this 29-5 Silhouette for my retirement present to myself.

Then I jumped off the 44 train for a minute and bought my first 4" 28-2 Highway Patrolman.

I came up on this 8 3/8" 29-6 that still has a square butt frame and forged cylinder latch.

Santy brought me this 6 1/2" 24-3 unfired since it left the factory.

I'm seeing some beautiful revolvers here. Y'all keep 'em coming.
Great thread Mudd!!!

75Vette, some really nice pickups you got this year man! I really like that 29-5 Silhouette gun especially. I don't imagine many of those were made and I would buy one in a heartbeat myself. The long barrel, special sights plus the full endurance package really appeal to me,

I bought 4 S&W revolvers this year: a 28-2 4”, a 19-5 2.5”, and Model 18, all for me. I also bought a trade-in 10-10, as a present for a friend.

But, there is a day and a half left

Smith & Wesson this Year

This Year Smith & Wesson was
S&W Model 696-1, 44 S&W Special,
Hand Ejector, 5 Charge Hole Cylinder,
3" Bbl, Stainless Steel, Adjustable Rear
Sight, Brand New In the Blue Plastic Box
with all paperwork and Safety Lock.

I concentrate on New In the Box Revolvers
when I consider buying a Gun.

The Year before was a, 2009 S&W Model 629-8,
44 Magnum, Hand Ejector, Six Charge Hole
Cylinder, 4" Bbl, Stainless Steel, Adjustable
Rear Sight, Cabela's Outfitter Series engraved
Elk Rack, Brand New In the Blue Plastic Box
with all paperwork and Safety Lock.

My next will be a .41 Magnum or 44-40
Caliber. Lost the .41Mag Mtn Gun Blued
by going to the Movies. The 44-40Cal
one on Deck and just patiently waiting to
see if another presents itself.
