Default Model 60 ID and troubleshooting

I have recently bought a Mod.60 no dash serial number R 278115
38 spl. it's stainless steel. how old is it.

It works well in double action. In single action it fails to revolve sometimes.
when I push on the extractor. The extractor's movement is restricted at one point, but if I rotate the extractor 180 degrees it moves freely.

If I’m reading the 4th Edition correctly, should be 1979-1980 shipment.

Not common, but you might have a bent extractor rod. Open the cylinder, and then rotate it to see if the extractor rod wobbles as it turns. If not, a thorough cleaning might fix the problem.

NavySCPO & mh51,
Amazing! It was very dirty, I did do a good cleaning in it appears to function now.

I can detect no wobble to the extractor, but somethin has to be wrong. Thanks for all the help guys

If it seems to function now, I doubt there's anything wrong. If you don't have access to a sonic cleaner, see if any of your local gun shops use them. If so, they can dunk it without doing full disassembly, and it will probably soak all the dirt and grit from around the extractor rod and the internals. Bet it will work fine then.

Default the extractor was slightly bent

I gritted my teeth and bent the extractor back to straight. Well, almoststraight. It works freely on 4 of five cylinders. Got some new grips and made a holster for it.

Thanks for th posts nice to know we have such a good forum to come to for advice.
