29-1 8 3/8"
I have a 29-1 8 3/8" barrel s/n S229344. Apparently it was very early. It was shipped June 27th, 1962. Per the invoice, there were 5 model 29-1's Blue in 8 3/8" barrels on that invoice.

There’s two on gun broker or gun international right now. One is selling for $11,000 and the other is $12,000.

This is an interesting threat to follow and I’m glad it is still rolling along. I’d love to be able to add a 29-1 to my meager S&W collection someday.

I have a 29-1 that has been a shooter and back-up for elk. Should I try to find someone to restore it or leave it. Might be interested in selling. Thanks, Bill

Most folks here will say don't restore/refinish. "Restoring" usually suggests more detailed work than just a refinish such as refreshing stamps and lettering and is expensive. A good reblue will probably be $400 or so and likely won't be recovered if the gun is sold. There are only 70 or so known 29-1s and most collectors are going to want one in original condition even if worn. If it were mine I wouldn't have it refinished. If you want to sell it, you can offer it here in the Classified section.
