Model # hunt
So, this may be an unanswerable question considering i dont know specifics. Im new to the forum and I am trying to find a certain model. I figure if anyone could help me it would be you folks.
My grandmother had a 357 snub nose, like a really short barrel, looked like a big beefed up model 36. I know she obtained it between 1967 and 1974, maybe earlier. She had put Pachmayar grips on it but my dad said it had wooden grips originally. I also remember it was blued and not stainless.
I know thats not alot to go on but if anyone would have any input it would be greatly appreciated. The gun is long gone, through an unfortunate set of events, and my dad doesnt remember the model number. Id love to be able to figure it out and get on the hunt for one. Thanks in advance folks!

I am no S&W historian or anything but between 1967 and 1974 I think the only .357 Magnum "snubby" that S&W made was a Model 19. If they made J frames in that caliber in that time period I never heard about it and never heard/saw it discussed here.

Welcome to the Forum.
The Model 13 was being built in 1974. It was available in blue, with a 3" barrel, and it had fixed sights.
The Model 19 was available in blue with a 2 1/2" barrel and had an adjustable rear sight and the ejector rod was enclosed.
Both were chambered in .357 Magnum.

M19 / M66 2.5" RB
M13 / M65 3" RB
There are a few M10's that were actually made in 357 magnum, but they are pretty rare.

This is a 1970 Model 19-3 in nickel with a 2.5" barrel. Some variety of 2.5" M19 would be the most likely suspect. Trying to ID a gun you no longer have is difficult.

Happy Hunting and I hope you find one. IMO they are the best self defense concealment revolver ever made.
