Default Model 17 & 29-2 Production date

Hi I am brand new to the forum,
I just picked up a Model 27 I think its a -3
The serial is 6N71xxx
Also looking for the production date on my 29-2
Serial #N646xxx.
Any help would be apricated

6N71xxx - no info on this. Title says Model 17 but text body says Model 27. Which is it?
N646xxx is probably 1979

If it is a M17-3, they were manufactured 1967-1977. The SN would have a "K" in it, not an "N". If it happens to be 6K71xxx, that would make it a 1975 manufacture (6K58918-8K20763)

Welcome! 6K71xxx would likely be from 1975, with the usual warning that S & W did not ship (sell) guns in numerical order and therefore its official birthday may differ.
