Austin Texas Police Department Model 27-2
I have a Austin Texas Police Department Model #27-2 in 357 with a 2 1/2" barrel in Nickel that I have had for a number of years. I have tried to find some more information about it to determine it's age, value and history with little success. Joined this group recently to try to find more information. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks
Rick

Rick you are in the correct location. You will need to post all but the last two numbers of the serial number, which should be stamped on the butt. There should be the A.P.D. rack number on the rear of the grip frame.
If it is a model 27 it will have a 3 1/2" barrel. Measure from the muzzle to the front of the cylinder.
Welcome

Thanks for your quick response old bear to my note on my 27-2. Mine is a 3 1/2" barrel as you suggested. My revolver is in excellent shape and mechanics are tight. Serial number is S316294 stamped on the butt and also marked 27786 on the yoke hinge. It is marked Austin P.D. 295. I have some pictures but do not a url address to add them to this message. Appreciate your help.

You don't need a URL to post pictures, just drop down to the "manage attachments" button and click that. That will bring up a new window. Click "choose file" to pick which picture you want to upload from your computer, then click "upload". That will attach a thumbnail to your post that people can click to look at the photo. You can add up to 5. The more you add, the more information the experts have to assist you with questions. Welcome aboard.

Do a search of "Austin PD" & you'll find threads with other examples & info. on them. I had one a few years ago, but passed it on to a collector.
