I believe that Chuck (29-1) is correct that the Model 629 will eventually become quite collectible. Currently, the 629s made to test the new tooling (see photo of N629187 below), with serial numbers beginning with N629 are quite collectible, but very hard to find (I have seen five since they were made in 1978), followed by the 4-inch 629 and the other barrel lengths. As more time passes and collectors realize the pinned and recessed revolvers were only shipped for a couple of years, interest will grow in these early guns.

I saw a pinned but non-recessed one at the gun show 4"

Bill, thanks for posting the picture of an early 629 prototype. You're right about them being tough to find Yours is a nice one for sure.
