Default Last one for the year - Model 12-3, 2"

I've had a blast with the rusty tide of guns at my area Sportsman Warehouse stores. They came from Century Arms, who supposedly got them by buying out decades of evidence and old duty guns from the Policia de Puerto Rico.

Lots of Smiths (a very high percentage were Model 37s) and Colts (Detective Specials, Cobras, and Agents - and oddly enough a couple of Vipers), some Berettas, and then a hodge-podge of odds and ends. I did another thread about a Model 52-2. They were a crusty and rusty bunch, probably drenched and left to rust after a hurricane hit the storage place.

They are mostly gone now, but lo and behold I found this fellow yesterday.

Obligatory parking lot shot:

I got ten bucks off, used my GI Joe discount, and a buck ten in Sportsmans points. So $321 plus background fee and the Governor's cut.

It cleaned up very well.

Not even cracked.

No evidence scratchings either, and the grips are numbered to the gun. I suspect it was an issue gun that never got issued, and was tossed in with the disreputable herd.

Once I'm sure bullets will come out of the end I will give my beloved carry Cobra a rest and see how we get along.

Edited to add: BK adapter is on the way. The Pachy will do for now.

Wonderful! Glad you were able to find another outstanding one! I managed to find my nice 12-2 snub in the unappreciated used case at 5280 Armory. They are a nice carry gun!

Good score....your gonna like it.
Seems lately I pack this one or a Colt Detective Special.
Picked this 1963 vintage model 12 off a gun show table near
25 years ago.

Congratulations, that is a really nice Model 12. Just as nice as the one I bought a few weeks ago, but mine cost twice as much. I own two 12-2 snubs now.

I really like the Model 12 as a carry gun, it’s my go to off duty gun most of the year, and I carry it on the job a good bit. It’s funny you’re going to carry it in place of your Cobra, I’ve been looking for a Cobra to carry in place of the Model 12. Finding a decent Cobra in southeast PA for a sane price is a challenge these days.

My older brother felt the need to give me a few of his guns a few months ago. I have given him several over the years, that I acquired and couldnt carry due to weapon restrictions. Anyway one was a nice model 12, he picked up a long time ago at a pawn shop. Its in pretty good shape. I would title the photos 1- the good, pretty nice for its age/use, and the bad, hammer bobbed,ok and 2-the ugly. Still a great gun...

Thought about an Agent? They can often be found cheaper.

Same D frame (except early model Cobras had long grip frames,) weight, etc, and by the time the short grip Cobra came out, essentially the same gun. There was a later version of the Agent with a parkerized like finish that is ugly to me, but they go a lot cheaper.

I have a shrouded hammer with a full lug barrel. Very nice shooter.
