I asked a lot of questions up here on the forum about this gun and all of your feedback got me to buy one. I bought a 25-2 with 6.5 inch barrel in 45 ACP. The gun has quickly become one of my favorite shooters.

So lets see yours-Here's mine

Well, you didn't say they all needed to be dash 2's. Here's my 25-5 wearing a set of Executioner's custom made Maine moose stags.

...and the same gun with a set of modified magnas. They make the gun just a bit handier. This is my primary belt gun in the Maine deer woods.

That looks like a 6.5" barrel to me. They were supposed to be 6" after 1979 but mine is from 1980 and wears a 6.5" tube.

Here's my M25-5 that I bought new in 1980 and roundbutted. I carried it as my duty weapon for a few years and then sold it to my Lt, who carried for a number of years. I bought it back from him in 2007.

Art, I think Saxon Pig is correct, your barrel looks like a 6.5" to me as well.
Here is my 25-7 made in 1989, with cocobola "cokes" from Kurac

My 25-2 made in 1980, also with a 6.5" barrel-

and my 25-5 made in 1987-

You are right I just measured the barrel and it's 6.5 inchs. When I bought it I thought it had a 6 inch barrel and never measured it. I love the gun and the barrel is great at 6.5 inch.

25-2 cut to 4 in about 1985 by Kurt Hardcastle.

"Joe Kent" has one just like it, except for the stocks, done at the same time.

I looked for a long time before I found someone willing to sell one! They are great revolvers, and I don't think I'll ever give mine up.

Very nice guns! I am looking at purchasing a 45acp one in a couple of days, 1970s vintage with 6 inch barrel, 95% or so condition, with a presentation box (no papers). Is $600 a reasonable price?

I love target revolvers (have a couple of very nice target 38 specials) and think one of these would make a nice companion.

Do you need a demooner or can you insert and remove the cartridges from the clip by hand?

These seem to go for around that price range in the condition you mentioned. Soory, missed this the first time. It's easy to get the 45 ACP rounds in the moon clips but it's really tough to get them out without a tool. Midway and brownell both have fairly cheap tools.

Wanted top repost the 25-2 with the S&W grips from the classic collection. They have great color and grain and are book marked. The knife is a Puma Skinner.

Nice bunch of model 25's here everybody! I'll share mine too, a 25-2, 6 1/2" circa 1971. I think these like K-22's and K-38's belong in every Smith and Wesson collection of favorite shooters. Greg

Can I get the award for the biggest grips? Hogue Big Butts is what they are.
I just bought this vintage 1974 25-2 not two weeks ago and it came as is. The grips are now sold to a forum member.
I'm thrilled to have found this 25.
