Greetings all, I have just purchased my second smith and wesson revolver and was trying to dig up some information on it with no such luck. Alas here I am in hope's of identifying the production date and or date of sale and whatever information anyone is willing to share as I don't know much of the history except what little can be found on the wiki. Ramble over, here are the details as per the sticky on how to help identify.

I have a mod 19-3 s/n: 7 k57 xx, blued finish 4" barrel in 357 magnum.

Not the best picture but hopefully it can help, thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the S&W Forum.

No Model 29 was ever chambered for the .357 Magnum. Moreover, the Model 29 is an N frame and would not have a 7K serial number.

I believe what you have is a Model 19-3, made in about 1975. Without the complete serial number, that could be off by a year. But if the serial number is 7K57xxx, 1975 is the year.

Yes that is my mistake on the model number, must have fat fingered the 2 instead of the 1 and did not proofread before posting, my apologies

Also the whole serial number is 7 k57 52

Fatjeezus, first off, welcome aboard! Also, what was suggested to me maybe 2 years ago, pick up or order the book Standard Catalog Of Smith & Wesson by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas, published by Gun Digest Books. It has a wealth of information about all the S&Ws. Even if you never buy another S&W this book is great to just pick up and open to any page and it's just plain great to read.

Where on the gun are you seeing that serial number? I suspect it is in the yoke area or perhaps on the box end label. I suggest you remove the stocks and look on the butt. Then we will know for sure what the serial number is. The spaces you are showing between the 7 and the K, and between the second and third digits after the K have me suspicious.

If the number is 7K5752 (only four digits after the K), then the likely assembly date is 1974.

Welcome to the forum, Fatjeezus. Nice looking M19-3 you found, my own revolver's twin. JP@AK is one of our resident experts, so he's right on the money. I'd have said 1975, but I go on the generalities of the SCSW, he has more refined info and experience. My own M19-3 is 7K121xx, so not terribly far from yours, and I believe it to be 1974.

When you get an opportunity, show us some more pics, a bit closer and from different angles. One thing you'll learn here is we all like to drool on other people's guns.

I have a 19-4 s/n 119K6xx. Can you tell me the production date please?

Friend of mine has an older sw for sale, he said unfired, I was wondering if anyone knows more about it? 44 magnum I think. I have a photo of it attached, let me know what yall think, thanks.

Very nice 44 Magnum with a 5-screw frame. Most likely dates to sometime in 1956 (first year of production) or possibly early 1957. Coke bottle stocks look very nice.

He may be reading the number off the box label, where the number gets broken up.
