Model 66

Just picked up a mint 4" model 66. Recessed and pinned - no dash. Came with the box and papers and 2 sets of factory stocks, It has been magna-ported and has had a trigger job. Paid $275 out the door. Can't wait for the weather to clear to take it to the range.

Excellent, is there better compromise of size, power, handling, and accuracy? I don't believe so. Congratulations!!

Congratulations on a great gun as I picked one up last week. They are a fun gun to shoot and very accurate and a great barrel length.

Be advised. That model 66 no dash had a problem with the location of the gas ring, and the gun locking up when it got hot. It's being discussed here.

I've got the same gun and it's never locked up, but then again I don't fire hot loads. But you might want to experiment with it before you use it for self defense.

I've got a 66 no-dash and I paid a lot more for it than $275. I've had no problems with mine, it's my favorite gun by far. Congratulations on a great purchase!

My police academy gun was a no dash 66. It never had any problems locking up, but then again the majority of the shooting was done with standard pressure 38's. Only quals were done with magnums and then it was 110 grain Winchester White Box, 50 rounds at a time. I sure wish I still had that gun.

What a great gun & a great deal. My blued are safe queens for the most part where as the stainless are so easy to clean up. Getting lazy in my old age.

My 66 was my first gun two years ago. I have had a few problems with the cylinder locking up when switching between .38 and .357 but folks here have been very helpful explaining why. Nevertheless, while I now own another S&W and have extensively shot Colts, Rugers, and a few other pistols, my Model 66 is still my favorite and I will never sell it. I did switch the stock grips to Hogue grips though.

I just bought a 66-1 with 2.5'' bl, Recessed and pinned,I love it,shoots .38spl fine its loaded with CCI 158 gr 357 Mag HPs, for HD shoots then fine as well.WHEN YOU HAVE TO SHOOT,SHOOT, DON'T TALK.
