Hi Everyone,

I was referred to this site as the place with the experts who could help me identify a Smith and Wesson Revolver I just inhereted.

It has a wooden handle and a silverish finish on the metal parts. It holds 6 .22 long rifle rounds.

The barrell says Smith and Wesson .22 Long Rifle CTG. When I remove the cylinder, I see two sets of markings:
Mod 63
73494

On the bottom of the handgrip is the number M119389.

Is there anyone who can help me understand what model this is. I have no real use for a pistol like this one and I'm thinking of selling it. Anyone have any idea of the worth (it's in excellent condition).

Thanks,
Rob

Welcome to the Forum

Your Model 63 is from about 1978-9. They are very desireable little shooters - 22 LR caliber.
It is made of Stainless Steel.

In my neck of the woods, they bring pretty good money $400-500 for clean ones.
If you have box, tools, paperwork - that adds to the value.
How about posting some pictures?

Good Luck

Wow, $400 - 500, huh?

Maybe I should hold on to it. It's a beautiful weapon. No tools, box or paperwork, but I do hail from Texas and we like our guns around here.

I will try to post some picks when I get home from work.

22 ammo is still pretty cheap during this big ammo craze that's going on and 22's are fun to shoot

I'd keep it if you are not hurting for money.
It will continue to go up in value

A quality .22 revolver is a good thing to have and keep. Fun and inexspensive shoot.

Yes SP, you are

It's his first post , he inherited the gun.
When he used silverish finish and handgrips terms I knew he could use some help.

Now SP, Keep in mind that we all had to start somewhere. It was you that came to my defense when a certain forum member here chastized me for using the term Target Masterpiece. I still remember that post and was appreciative toward you.

As for you RoBear, sorry for the thread drift and a hearty welcome to the forum! I don't spend much time here anymore, but if you brew a pot of coffee, put your feet up, and read a while you will learn volumes of info from the folks here. Enjoy that kit gun, they are a hoot to shoot.
