Default Pawn shop ... mint 10-5

I mean in perfect condition. Wood grips are of that period and fit the gun well. 4 inch pencil barrel. Ramp front sight. Case hardened trigger and hammer. They want $425...

But I know I would just fire a few shots and pick it up in the safe... Oh well.. I might go back tomorrow and slap a lay-a-way (and oil it well!!)

That's a very good price in the current market, and back about 5 years also.

Photos when you get it.

You’ll never lose money on it if you do sell it, but why would you? When are you ever going to be able to buy a comparable gun for that price?

You should go buy it pronto before someone else does. That’s a sweet revolver and a good deal.

You'll regret it if you don't buy that revolver!

A standard 4" barreled 10-5 is not what I'm really itching to get, but at THAT price and condition, it would have to find a place in my safe.

About a year ago, I have come to the realization that I am a Smith collector. The vast majority of mine have been shot once and put away. I always thought I would get around to shooting them again when they "come around in the rotation", but my problem is I keep adding to the herd. I have accepted that fact and there's nothing wrong with being in that position. The good Lord has blessed me with the ability to afford these and I enjoy the hobby. That's all the reason I need for my adoption addiction, and finding a place for a new to me Smith that needs a home.

SN is D483xxx so that is Late 1972 – Early 73.

Just one photo. I paid total $460, tax incl.

Slapped a $100 lay-a-way on it. Brought a box and oily rag. Cleaned it up and it's sleeping till I pay it off.

Congrats on that purchase! You got a nice one for a very good price! I'd have picked that one up, too, even though I am not in the market for a Model 10. These days you cannot go wrong buying an S&W revolver of that vintage in that condition at that kind of price!

When I see something like that, I take money out of one account that is losing value (inflation), and transfer to another account (hard assets) that is gaining value. Glad I did not go to hippy college.

I once bought a NIB nickel Model 10 pencil bbl at a show simply because someone else was handling it (and improperly!) and I didn't want him to have it.

If you're not going to shoot it then leave it for someone who will.

Now get off my lawn.

"I keep adding to the herd. I have accepted that fact and there's nothing wrong with being in that position." As Wilford Brimley said in the oatmeal commercial, "It's the right thing to do". If you don't want that gun, tell me where it is! I wasn't exactly looking for the one I have but it found me....kinda like the one you found.

Any time I see a S&W in good condition for a good price I will buy it, even if I already have one. I especially like pinned barrels and/or recessed cylinders. In my eyes this is a better investment than anything out there. Same thing if I run across some cheap ammo of any caliber.
