I have read numerous threads on the model 36-1 Chief's Special w/heavy 3" barrel and the conventional thinking (perhaps based on SCSW) is that it was introduced in 1967. I purchased a 36-1 s/n 4562XX on Oct 15,1966 and wonder if is perhaps a pre-production gun or one of the first of this model. The -1 stamped in the crane is larger than the 36 so it appears to have been almost an afterthought.
