Model 36 no-dash need year help
Good Morning,
New to this forum. I have a small gun shop, customer brought in a Model 36 no-dash gun, really nice shape in 98% condition with original serial number grips. Looking for the year of manufacture. Serial number 415408.
Thanks for any help! This is a really informative group and enjoyed looking around.

Others with more experience and knowledge will be along shortly. From the Standard Catalog of S&W 3rd Edition, Early J Frame (Chief is a J frame) serial numbers are listed 1962 (295000) to 1969 (786544) so yours falls in that time frame. Catalog doesn't break it down farther.

Welcome! It is very likely from 1965, so 51 years old. Hope this is helpful.
