I opted for a letter since the gun is a family piece.

I decided to tear the whole thing down, run it through the sonic cleaner, then the heater oven to remove any trace of moisture and then reassembly; getting it greased and oiled properly before its first outing.

Well, the letter arrived today and it says that this single pistol was shipped to a sporting goods store in California in 1970. About 5 hours from where my grandfather lived so its possible that he bought it, possibly on business trip at the time? who knows

A pistol is a pistol and a revolver is a revolver and never the twain shall meet.
