Back in the poorhouse (again) LOL
I bought 3 guns this week. All in beautiful condition. As you know, it's best we not take them home at one time.
I have the 27-2 with an S prefix circa 1963 6 1/2"
I'll pick up the 29-2 S prefix circa 1963 6 1/2" (This saturday)
And a beautiful 4" 19-3 (the following saturday)
All blue of course.

I'm guessing that is to avoid a Form 3510.4 for a multiple disposition...There is no way I'll leave my belongings in a remote location when I can just as easily take them home today...While in business, I occasionally had the ATF question these transfers, and after giving the asked for information nothing else came of it for either me or the transferee...Multiples are a common occurrence...
Tomorrow, if FedEx does their part on time, I'll pick up three more for my accumulation...There'll be the usual paperwork for my FFL which he doesn't seem to mind a bit...I'll also save some precious diesel picking up all three while I'm out doing my weekly errands... ...Ben

My wife has gotten smart. Realizing she can't tell one from another, she's taken to counting them. Damn.

Years ago, When I had only been collecting for a few years. My wife's father called about a week before Christmas to tell us he was getting married over Christmas. I had just started a new job and money was tight. I dug in the safe and pulled out a HK93 in 223 that I had paid $300 and took it to the gunshow and sold it for $1000 and used the money or airplane tickets to Washington. Flew on Christmas day. But, since then she never complained about my gun collection. Besides that she started to collect Hummel figurines while we were in Spain and her collection was up to 200 figurines and I didn't complain.

Every time I tell my wife she can only wear one pair of shoes at a time. And ask why she has so many. She ask me how many guns I can hunt with at once. Tusche

The FFL dealer I work would says it's not worth the hassle and I agree.

I asked my ATF FEL inspector (they handle both types of permits) about this one time. Buying three classic S&W revolvers in a multiple purchase period is not on their radar screen. Buying 10 Hi-Points or 5 Glock 19s may raise their interest, especially if it keeps happening at one or more dealers.

I have sold all of my motorcycles, and offshore boats. Then went on a gun buying frenzy of old Smith revolvers. Filled two safes in the last year. She doesn't say a word and I don't say a word about her cruises 4 times a year treating the family and friends. I am done with cruises. I used to like them.

That's where I was, happily, until I was outed by a single action Ruger that she thought "looked different" from all my other 6" revolvers. Beware.

What hassle and for whom? I do multiples occasionally, certainly no hassle for me. I'm pretty sure that the 3510.4 goes in the round file at the sheriff's office as soon as it arrives so no hassle for him. Seems to me the hassle would be in not doing multiples in that the buyer has to fill out multiple 4473s and make multiple visits to the FFL and the FFL has to store them when one would suffice.

That is what I was trying to say earlier, only in my more poorly chosen words...The "round file" comment brought an old memory to mind...In the very small (population about 2000) city where I reside we have our own police force...When I moved here in the late 80's and got my first FFL01, I became friends with the Chief...I would often visit him for coffee, and sometimes I brought the CLEO copy of one or two 3510.4's to him...
After the first one (he didn't know what it was because I was the first FFL in his town) when he saw me enter his office, he handed me a cup of coffee and accepted the papers in my hand which he immediately fed to his shredder without even glancing at them...I miss Art; his funeral had more cops under one roof than I had ever seen... ...Ben

Hassle
The question should be "Who has the most hassle in a multi gun purchase?" If done properly it would be the buyer! The buyer should not buy more than one gun per work week! In this case, that means the buyer will need to return to the shop 3 times in different weeks! If all are purchased at the same time the dealer has the hassle. It requires more paperwork for him to be filed with the local Sherif's dept, if you live in a rural community! If you ever have purchased guns from a large auction, like Rock Island Auction Co, they sell by lots! Many times, there are more than one gun in a lot number. In the past, I have been the successful bidder on two lot numbers which totaled 8 guns! None of these were the same model and/or manufacturer. All were transferred to me at the same time with only one call to the BATF and one 30min trip to my FFL!
