Default Virtual gun show: 36’s on 3/6

Let’s have some fun….

Today is 3/6, so show us your Model 36’s!

Here’s mine - it’s a no-dash, no-prefix gun from the late 1960’s. The serial number is 758xxx so I think it’s one of the last ones made before the serial number prefix started.

Cool idea. I’m in.
My everyday carry 36 no dash 2” and a 36 no dash 3” and 36-1 3”
plus a 60 no dash 2” photobombed it’s way in. 60 is an R prefix serial with a pinned barrel wearing Mustang grips.

I'm in. Here we have a 3" square butt M36-1 up top, with a bobbed, nickel 1-7/8" round butt M36 down below. The nickel gun pretty much lives in the safe these days, but the 3" is in my wife's "get home" kit that she keeps in her truck. She shoots that gun as well as I do!

I'll sure play.

First one is the "first one" known: serial number 126017, shipped September 1958.

It has the assembly number stamped in the yoke cut above "MOD-36" -- most unusual.

Next is a two-tone 3" Model 36 shipped on May 27, 1959.

Then a February 1961 nickel 3".

Finally a November 1966 with the new-that-year contoured thumbpiece.

Wait a minute. If this is a virtual gun show then all these guns should be for sale. How much?

Can't wait for 3/7.

Default 1955 Chiefs Special

I don’t have any Model 36’s, just this Pre-M36 Chiefs Special from 1955. It is a bit scratched up though.

Okay, I’m in and it’s still 3-6 for a couple more hours.
This is my only Model 36 but I’ve got several Model 60’s.
This square butt Model 36 is from 1981.

Here's a time capsule from 1969. A shiny nickel Model 36 (no dash). It's pretty much as it shipped, sales receipt and box goodies. Thanks to Forum member Gunsquirrel for making it available.

What is the serial # on that one? I'm curious as to how far off it is from mine....

SN on the 1969 nickel is a "J" prefix, J1710X.

Default Model 36

I’ll extend this out a little more.
Here’s my nickel 36 I purchased new in June, 1979 as an off duty carry piece. It replaced a nickel Charter Arms Undercover. Interestingly, it shipped with a SAT but no mop.

Here's another Mod. 36 (no dash). This one shipped in likely late 1975. The sales receipt is dated 11/12/1976. SN J32095X. Bangor Punta era, 3-screws, high-polish blue, no diamond magnas (#matching).
Another time capsule with box, contents, and sales receipt. Note the retail on this was $90.00, but in 1976, $90.00 was a chunk of change.
Thanks to Forum member J. DeMarco in NY for making this one available!
Come to think of it. Forum members here have been quite helpful building my collection. Thanks y'all!

I'm late to the party, but here is mine. A 1969-vintage Model 36 that I picked up at the end of December as a belated Christmas gift to myself.

It shoots great, but I kept whacking my thumb on the cylinder latch so I recently changed it to the earlier flat latch. And yes I have kept the original parts in a plastic bag.
