Default Model 13-2 4” RB

Has anyone ever seen a 13-2 pinned & recessed round butt 4 in barrel? I can’t find another one anywhere online and the book says they didn’t do that until 1996. This one is a 4D serial which dates it at 1979.

It would be an unusual variation at that time, but never say never with S & W. Can you post photos of the grip frame?

That doesn't surprise me. I had a 66- 1 4" RB that shipped in 96 as well. It was a special order from Oklahoma Dept. of Pardon and Parole (stamped as such by the agency.) I only found out the ship date by asking about the 4" RB here on the forum. So yours is most likely an agency special order.
