Model 33
I've been searching for info concerning S&W Model 33. Is this Model considered rare? Am I searching wrong?

The model 33 was discontinued in 1974 because it was not a popular model. Also it was chambered in the 38 S&W, NOT 38 S&W Special, a totally different round that has much less power that the 38 SPL! I would not say the model 33 is rare as it was never popular!

Possibly S&Ws least loved model. Sometimes they turn up in pretty nice condition though. Here's a pre-model from about 1954.

I have one made in 1970. Came in box and looked yo be barely fired. Bought many years ago. I reload for 38 S&W and have shot it a few times. Nice pistol, but I think the Model 32 Terrier was a more popular pistol

Finding one LNIB has proven to be difficult. Popular or not they're elusive and not inexpensive. I'm assuming due to the unpopularity there were fewer made than some of the other models. Out of maybe 250 shows I've been to I've never seen one.

Search for the .38/32 or .38 S&W Regulation Police which was the model name from 1917 when introduced on the I frame, thru 1957 when it was designated the Model 33. It was made on the J frame as the model 33-1 beginning in April 1961.

I was watching a nice nickel 33-1. It hammered at $700. Wrong box but but very good condition. I got too busy to bid on it.
