Default There are no good deals at Cabela’s.

At least not now.

I think its a square butt under these stylish Mustang grips.

$237 with my GI Joe discount.

They took the trigger lock off and the action is smooth and crisp. There is a trigger shoe which will have to go.

Its in 3 day gun jail, which is actually four days thanks to the Cabela’s corporate policy of not starting the clock until midnight of the day of purchase.

Very nice buy. Once in a while the skinny jeans guy with the beard and lots of opinions messes up pricing. If it’s not plastic he’s lost.

Nice! Thornton or Lone Tree?

Most of my Cabela's gun room steals have been at the Thornton location.

I’ve done all right by the Cabelas in Reno and Bass Pro in Vegas.

3.5” 27-2 95+% $1250
3.5” 27-2 98% $920
3” 66-4 95% $640
3” 24-3 99% $870
4” Colt DB 99% $1200
Win M70 Classic FWT 6.5x55 with tags $799
5” 27-2 FHP 1of500 nickel $1050
5” 27-2 complete in presentation case. Pristine $1250
There’ve been several others, but that’s all I can remember.

That cord of firewood it came with is worth $250.

Quite a nice score.

Nice!

I think this is my best Cabelas steal. RP .38 with original box. They said it was marked down because they didn’t have shells for it.

I've done pretty well at my local Cabela's, I really miss the old policy that allowed you to ship any Gun Library gun from any store to your location for $25!

The gun library guys at my local Cabelas did not know that a 629 Classic DX was any different from a 629 Classic. However, they still had it priced too high. Last week I looked at a 1950s Colt Officers Model that I want. It’s in good condition cosmetically but the action is gummed up so badly you can watch the trigger slowly reset. My guess is that all it needs is some TLC but I am not paying $1,200 for a gun that I have to service and may need spring replacements.

I did get a beautiful Sako A III in .270 Winchester with the full length Mannlicher stock there. Every once in a while they make a mistake…

Exactly the place I’m talking about. 90% of the guys are very nice and pleasant to deal with. The manager that recently retired was great. But that other 10% ugh

Best deal I've seen there was one of the 5" K38 targets, they wanted around 6 bills for it. Didn't have the time to spend for their stupid paperwork process so I passed....

I don’t “need” another K38 in any way, but at that price, I believe I would have taken the time to buy that for “around 6 bills” if it was in any kind of good-ish condition!

Helluva great buy. The wood doesn’t look right on that gun but you won’t find a S&W like that around Pittsburgh for sure. I don’t know where Cabela’s is around here but maybe I should start checking out what the big stores have around here.

As for the OP, I’d already have the grips changed and be showing it off as well. I’ve settled on a Baby Chiefs Special and a Model 60-4 as my “little 38 Spls, but I couldn’t have walked away from that no way, no how!

Default Never saw a "Gun Bargain"

The last bargain I saw at Cabela's Augusta, GA was primers for $22 a brick 5 years ago. I graciously cleaned the shelf off for them. Friend said price was too high. Six months later I told him my inventory level was too low to sell him any.

Same thing happened on smokeless powder a couple of weeks later. Sorry, Charlie.

I chased a gun from Cheektowaga to a store in New York. Gentleman paid $25 to have it shipped there, and refused it. So, I got the gun and no deal on it, but it was a super pre M45, Post Office model, in near mint condition. They don't come up for sale often. I often wonder why the guy paid the $25 and passed on a nice, quite scarce, revolver. Big Larry

I purchased this Citori Lightning at Cabelas for $699 last fall. Has some blueing lose but mechanically it's fine. I've got 10 or so boxes of ammo through it and nary a hiccup. If they still made those it would be a 2K shotgun new. Thank you Cabela's.

Congrats flat latch........

Nice; found a nice deal at a local gun shop about a year ago.... small scuff mark above the trigger ....... nothing a little cold blue and a set of Spegel Boot grips couldn't hide.

The square butt Chief’s Special was a favorite of NYPD detectives. I got mine from a retired NYPD detective. The finish was worn from a career in a Jaypee holster, but not a freckle or speck of rust anywhere. I should have bought the two-inch square butt Model 60 when John Jovino got a special run from S&W.

On particular guns, if they fit the era and purpose, I might leave it on if it came to me that way...But not if I'm carrying it loaded in a holster......Ben

Its in 3 day gun jail, which is actually four days thanks to the Cabela’s corporate policy of not starting the clock until midnight of the day of purchase.
WOW! I never heard of Cabelas having a 60% off sale on guns!

Not for sure what Cabela's you shop at but I do not think that is some sort of corporate policy. Just picked up a 1929 Model 12 16ga. They wrote the time of purchace at the top of my receipt and three days from that day and time picked up new additon. I have gotton some of my best deals from Cabela's and still do to this day. I do wish your visit to them would have went better as I get very good service at the Hoffman Estates location. One thing you can always do is the survey at the bottom of your receipt. If not treated fairly let their corporate know.

Agreed, bad reviews/surveys are as helpful as good ones. But, fill out that survey too when you get good service. If you can remember the employee's (outfitter) name; mention them by name in your survey. Even if it an internet used gun purchase over the phone.

I've been working as in the Cabela's Lehi, Utah Gun Library for 19 years taking the photos for the internet ads. When an employee gets mentioned in a good survey it usually means a well deserved pat on the back from management. Those also can help when it comes to annual reviews and raises.

Do watch the Cabela's used gun website. Deals often show up there. Don't be afraid to buy off the website. Shipping to another Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop is free. When the firearms gets to your location give it a good looking over. If you are happy, great, jump through the required hoops and take it home. If not, they will refund your purchase.

And an old photo of my first purchase back 2005, a SIACE hammer gun.

As mentioned above they sometimes miss things. I have gotten a few from them over the years but my best score was a SS marked K98 for under $300.00 with no import marks. Several nice S&W's and riot guns in different flavors.

They do, but not the blued version. It's silver nitride finish or something. So I guess there's always a chance of them building a blued version in the future.

That policy of shipping guns is either a store by store policy or some employees don't know what the policy is. I was recently told that Cabelas didn't ship used guns store to store. I guess it depends on who you talk to.

Someone doesn’t know what they are talking about. I just ordered a rifle and picked it up yesterday - Buda TX to Noblesville IN. Shipping Cost - not one cent. Says so on their website (store to store), as Bill said above.

I know people like to rag at Cabela’s. Yes, some of their prices can be bizarre. I just smile and pass on by. But over the years I’ve blundered into a nice deal here and there. Normally, I’m treated decently by the staff, wherever I happen to be. I’ve no serious complaints. Nothing’s perfect.

Nice looking square-butt Chief. I’ve got my share, but if not, I’d probably have been a willing buyer, too. Nice stocks you added.

It was the later. Some employee didn't know the policy. You do have to pay for it first at the store where the firearm is located.

They no longer ship to another store just for the asking, with or without a shipping fee. You pay for it first, then they will ship.

Shipping is free to your local Cabela's or Bass Pro. If you don't like the firearm when you see it in person that store will refund your purchase and then put it into their inventory.

Local Cabela's find couple years ago.
In a glass presentation case and extra cylinder.
When asked about the grips...."unknown white material".
Elephant Ivory. 2K OTD.

Very nice. I have picked up 2 Pythons, 2 29-2s and a nice Browning HiPower at different Cabela's fine gun rooms around Texas over the years. The Bass Pro in San Antonio turned their gun library into the ammo room because of all the five fingered discount shoppers on the main floor.

I was going by their website. All I saw was the Gran Lightning for big bucks.

Anyway, those are beautiful shotguns.

I’ve bought a few from Cabelas over the years. This was my first 15+ years ago. IIRC, it came to me from an Indiana store.
