Got my K 38 14-2 today
It is a well used revolver with some bluing loss but the bore is perfect!
Serial number is K650XXX which dates it to 1965. It came with a set of Pachmyer grips, but I bought an old set of target grips off of ebay.
It has some speckling on the right side like it sat too long somewhere damp. I will take care of it and shoot it a lot. Not bad for $650.

I have a 14-2 made in 1968. Had it for close to 30 years! One of my favorite Smiths to shoot.
Have fun with it!

Certainly in that vicinity. K647761, a Model 14-2, shipped in July, 1966. But K680463, a Model 15-2, shipped in June, 1966.
At $650, you did okay.

Nice grab! IMHO, this is one of those revolvers that EVERYONE should own and shoot. Enjoy!

My 14-3 is my first S&W purchase, 49 years ago. Still have it and after untold number of 148 gr HBWC's down the bore it is my fave and will be the last to go, if ever. Just plain fun to shoot and crazy accurate, way beyond my skill level.

My 14-2 that was shipped with a 5" barrel on a special order for two of them in 1962. Great shooter.

I still have my first, 14-3, ruined box is gone. A friend worked on it for me after it sat in a box full of water overnight. Jealousy. Accurate as the cartridges, one hole groups at 25'.
To be truthful, my wife stole it from my side of the bed to hers; which I quickly replaced with a 14-4 I had. They became my target pistols to collect many years back.
$650 is good with a great bore. Looks aren't everything. My sabotaged 14-3 looks way worse, but it looks just fine for me. Nice grab.
