Got all the Smith 22lr’s out today
Decided to get all my Smith 22lr guns out today. Did some thorough cleaning as I’d had some chambering issues previously.
From top to bottom:
17-3 8-3/8”
41 5” ported
18-4 4”
34-1 4” nickel
34-1 2”
They’re an awful lot of fun. The two 34’s have really tight chambers so I’m getting a reamer.

Very nice family photo 71vette! You could shoot them all day long for very little $. I've never seen a model 34 2" at any gun show or LGS. How does that little one shoot?

Thanks much!
I honestly shoot the 2” 34 better than the 4”. The trigger is excellent. I bought that gun in person from a forum member over 10 years ago and it’s served me well.

Too many might be enough for some folks, but I can usually find room for at least one more... ...Ben

I’m apprehensive about diving in with the reamer. Can’t put metal back…. So, today I hit the 4” 34-1 with a 22 cal bore mop and some Mothers Mag Polish. It definitely helped. Remingtons go in with light finger pressure now. Winchesters still require some force. I’ve got another “box” of bore mops coming in tomorrow and will hit the cylinder again with Mothers. A couple of chambers are tighter so they will get a little more attention. Afterwards I’ll probably leave it alone.

I ordered a finisher cylinder reamer from Manson about three weeks ago. Estimated delivery - JULY!!
Will you share the brand and from where you ordered yours, and how long will your wait for delivery be?

On my 1948 K-22, I have to run a bore snake through the cylinder about every 50 rounds to keep from having to push the rounds in. A friend told me the tolerances were very tight and they like to be clean to operate well.

I just picked up a 4" 34-1, and yes the chambers are tight. I shot mine with Remington Golden Bullets and one chamber is a little snug, although they'll still go in with a push. However extraction is difficult. This seems to be the way with a lot of older .22s as I have a Llama .22 pistol that was too tight to chamber most ammo until I reamed it.

You just can't have too many S&W .22 revolvers.
