Default 14-3 8 3/8"

How did I do?

14-3 8 3/8"-img_8821-jpg

All I can say is I wish it had known about these pistols sooner.

Nice gun! You did well and should end up with between $450-$500 into the gun itself.
Shipping is $45, sales tax will add another $40 and the dealer transfer should cost you $40-$50. That brings the total up to about $700.

The presentation case is for an N frame (29-2) and is worth $200-$250. If you don't have a 8-/8" 29-2 in need of a case, sell it online.

Thanks for the heads up! I don’t have a need for the case and will post it promptly after I receive it.

How did you do? You made out like a bandit, that's how you did. I recently paid $750 for one like it, without the box and tools, and was happy to get it for that price. Nice buy!.

Congratulations! You should have a great target gun. My -3 is from 1977, but has the short barrel. {HA,HA} Bob

Very nice looking S&W Model 14-3 and a heck of a price. Congratulations on the purchase. I like the long barrels too and enjoy shooting them.

That's the gun I used to use in a police bullseye league. You will love the long sight radius. It should nearly cut clover leaves at 25 yds with wadcutters.
Nice score, maybe even a steal!

Default long barrels

You did great(IMHO)! Some of us like the long barrel guns. My 14 8 3/8" gun is in the picture along with a couple of its siblings!

Nice! Is it 3T? Mine is the 3T 6" version and I too wish I had strayed into the S&W obsession earlier.

Stolen! Those long barrels make me remember Lee Van Cleef sticking a stock on his long barrel Colt in "For a Few Dollars More".

Wow- that’s quite a bargain. A 8 3/8” Model 14 is high on my list…

Took possession this week. The thing appears to have never been fired. The bluing is perfect and the cylinder is stiff to open and close. All the paperwork for the pistol is under the blue velvet plastic. The plastic is not in the greatest shape shape will send some
pics soon. I don’t even want to shoot it. The trigger and action are much stiffer than the 14-2 well used gun I bought. Lock up on each cylinder is extremely tight. The rear sight is adjusted very far to the left which is a little alarming.

A little oil will probably loosen the action up. I wouldn't be alarmed about the rear sight, until you get it to the range anyway. Bet it shoots just fine.

I think you did OK. Those normally sell for around $1K in that condition. Seems like the long barrel ones are less desirable than the shorter ones.

Interested to know if the cylinder loosens up. Fabulous price on a fine gun.

Incredible price for a mint m14!!! Unbelievable!

Total score! You might as well shoot it since you bought it for nothing.

It will loosen up. Oil and range time!
Wow!!!

Ah yes, but you got a -1. I bought the only -1 I've ever seen in the wild and that was a 6 inch. I suspect there are very few 8 3/8 -1s. We need to see pictures one of these days.
