Model 27-3 Correct Wood Display box?
I have a 27-3, serial number AWD37##, has a 8 3/8" barrel. I believe this is a 1988? (Please correct me if I'm wrong). I am thinking about finding a wooden display box. My question is what the box and tools looked like for this specific year?

I really don't know the details on the boxes, someone knowledgeable will be along. I seem to remember though that the wood boxes stopped before 1988, early '80s. Doesn't mean you can't put your -3 in one though.

Presentation cases (as an extra cost option) were discontinued in 1985. However, if you want a presentation case, the one shown below would be most correct for your 27-3. There are two for sale in the want to sell section of the Forum, but the inserts will require recovering.

Side note to Doc44 pic
The picture that Doc44 has posted is a very rare item in that state! That case pictured is exactly the way it left the factory from 1979-1985! However, the covering did not last long when used to display a gun in the case! This is what that case lining would look like today if used to display a gun.
The type case used after 1985 is this type
