28-2 correct magnas
Hello all, a Was looking at a 28-2 4” with an S prefix today. S309xxx, can’t remember the last three. Nice shape, with non Diamond magnas. Seems this is hovering 68-69ish. Question is, will some have the Diamond and some not? Should they be numbered to gun during that time? They are asking $700.

Diamonds around the escutcheons were discontinued in 1968...If those are original they will have S/N stamped on the inside of the right grip panel...Seven bills is a good deal if the condition is righteous... ![Smile](https://smith-wessonforum.com/images/smilies/smile.gif) ...Ben

Most likely non-diamond Magna stocks numbered to the revolver.

Depending exactly how nice, $700 could be a very good deal.

It is pretty solid on the metal and grips. However, the store here in CT puts a lock on the trigger. So basically no manipulation except being able to open/close cylinder. Was there a change by chance on the blueing technique between a no dash vs a -2. Thanks in advance.

No bluing difference between the early and late versions. I wonder if you’re referring to the matte finish? That was a standard cost cutting feature that put it below the 357 Magnum/M27s which have the beautiful bright blue.
I do love the finish on the Highway Patrolman/M28. One of my favorite S&W pistols.

I would be all over that depending on function & condition! Good price. Need a 4" to go with my 6" no dash. Bob

No way of knowing function except for salesman’s word. Kinda sucks but that’s the way Cabelas operates here in Ct.

Ain't it funny how Cabelas wants to inspect a fa when they consider buying it; But deny a customer the same opportunity.

I bought several revolvers from Cabela's here and they let you inspect it to your heart's content, but that must have been ten years ago minimum. I sure would think if you bought it, they would let you remove the lock and function test it in front of them before you left the store. Seems like they should give that much of a guarantee!

I love Model 28s as well. The Baughman front sights and the subdued finish both are appealing to me.
