Found a pair of 19-4's at the local pawn shop
In the pawn shop while waiting for the gunsmith, there were two S&W's 19-4's for sale. Been wanting a model 19 for many years and there in the case were two, one blued and one nickel. Pictures tell the story. Blued one was a blackish bluing and the nickel was a beauty. Gunsmith looked at the nickel one, tight and true, been shot very little and has just a few beauty marks. Couldn't resist. $800 OTD. No shipping, no cc fee, no FFL fee. I thought it was a fair price for in hand inspection, especially having the gunsmith check it out. What do you think?

I would have bought both of them with a $1,500 offer price.

Ditto to what oldengineer said. I'm kind of surprised how close the pricing was between the guns. The nickel 19 should carry about 10% premium over the blued one, with the shorter barrel as well. The stocks are different, the blued one has the later speed loader cut, but I like the ones on the nickel gun, not as shiny and with the football cut. I think you did very well. Do a light cleaning with Flitz and then wax it with Ren Wax. You'll have to wear sunglasses to look at it.

Can you explain the "shorter barrel" comment, please? My old eyes are letting me down here - I'm not picking up the difference. Thanks!

I think you did very, very well. I love the patina on the grips. Only aged wood gets what to me is a wonderful look.

I answered your PM, but after looking at the pictures again, I see they are both 4" barrels. The angle of the picture and foreshortening of the image by the wide angle lens on your phone makes the barrel look longer than it is.
Both are very nice revolvers, if you had to get just one, I'd have gone for the nickel one too. Mainly because I have a blued 4" M19-3.

you had me at nickel
and where in Florida is this shop....asking for a friend.
Great pickup. I would have left the blued one for someone who doesn't appreciate shine.
