Default Pre gun show score! A 15-2 to go with my 18-2!

Today is the local gun show and prior to going my FFL enabler posted a nice 15-2 on the broker. I popped by and plunked my $400 down for a beautiful example of the 15-2 with serial putting in the 1967 range. No box or papers and came with Jay Scott grips also in perfect shape. Was literally a sock drawer gun from an estate. Small bit of rust on the frame that came off with some brass brushing and some oil- I’d rate this 98% as it hardly shows any bluing loss.

Headed over to the show since the county was there to add it to my permit and looked around. Several model 15s but the cheapest was $595 and was a beater.

Figure this is the perfect match for my 18-2 to teach folks to shoot since it the same frame. Start with .22 move up to wadcutters then on to standard 158 gr and maybe a +P at the end.

I was hoping for a deal at the show but got it earlier!

while I am a fan of the Herrett’s I’m on the hunt for original grips for each to match even better. I’m guessing I need the diamond pattern grips for both.

Looks to be in great condition and it was certainly a very good price.

I love the 18/15 pairing as a teaching tool. The direct transfer of fundamentals speeds things up greatly. There is one problem with it, however. That is getting the 18 pried out of my hands long enough to let someone else shoot it! I've often said that there are very few things more fun than a .22 revolver and a pocket full of ammo.
Nice pistolas and nice score on the 15!

Awesome score. Sounds like a really good price too.

From what I understand, '67 is right on the cusp of having diamond grips or not. Maybe engine49guy will chime in, he knows K frame grips well. Either way, awesome score.

Thank you for posting the price. It helps me keep a perspective on what a gun should cost.

Just came back from the pawn shop. They have a beat-up 38 S&W (not 38 Special) for $799. That's got to be 2X what it's worth.

Yeah it was not bad for k frames and even a few j frames
Saw a decent model 10 for $525
a like new 642 for $400
and a nice 10-5 snub for I think $600

model 19s were way over priced in my opinion lots of 6” versions
First time I did not see a 19 snub

There was a nib 18 with all tools paperwork and wax paper the seller wanted $1200 Yikes

I was at that show as well. The 2” 10-5 was $650. As I looked at it I was thinking about a recent post here where a member bought a 2” with bobbed hammer for $450. That $1199 model 18 caught my eye. Just fior giggles I asked how firm that price was. He replied FIRM. Then asked if I wanted to see it. No thanks. As a whole it seemed like a bigger selection than normal and prices seemed to come down a bit. I saw one guy doing the paperwork on 3 S&Ws at once. There were two .22 Outdoorsman there that were nice original condition as well. But any 29 I saw was long barreled and over priced

Sad that gun owners tolerate this permit BS, IMO.

OP- after people get used to the Model 15 you can move them further up the ladder by adding a 4" model 19 to the stable

Yep
I’m lucky enough to have two 19-3 4” blue to move up to .357
The one pictured I got back in 2023 and it’s a laser for anyone who shoots it at the range.

Hmmm
18-2
15-2
19-3
19-3
19-5
and a 1980s Colt Python

All blue
All 4”
All wood grips

I think I see a trend 🙂

Very nice pickup on that model 15! I am a huge fan of model 15s. Interesting that both of the revolvers in your photo (the model 18 and model 15) have trigger stops installed. Usually they are lost to time on the 15s. My 15-3 was fortunate enough to still have one in place. My 6" model 14-2 has one also, but I would expect this on a model 14.
