One of the reasons I prefer a revolver to a semiauto 22 is the fact that shorts and cb caps are useable in a revolver without trouble. You'll just have to thoroughly clean the chambers if you use 22 short ammunition and then want to go back to using the LR.
You never gave us the year of manufacture of your gun but, if I remember correctly, the manuals say they fire shorts, longs, and long rifles? Longs are hard to find today but, I've fired shorts many times in my K22s with no problems.
Thanks folks...it is a 1955 model and I just wanted to test it after I took it apart and cleaned it..
I read that the K-22's were used by a lot of people to train for pistols in .38 spcl and .357...I did it backwards and bought the K-22 first and today bought what I think is a decent 64-3, 1981 mfg to go with it...paid $250 which looks like a fair price, at least I'm happy with it...
