Good idea for a fun thread.

Here is a pair of 18-2’s that are effectively new and short of factory test firing, unfired, and in their original boxes. By the serial numbers, they probably shipped in around 1965. They are only about 300 numbers apart. The papers are all there including the early type warranty card that did not have a Zip code in the address for Smith & Wesson. The tools are in their original sealed plastic bags.

Okay, I just posted a pic when I got it but I like it a great deal. I've got a pair of Diamond Targets I'm going to have to try after seeing the pics here.

Thanks for all the great pics of great revolvers,

I got my M-18 way back in the mid 70's when I was in high school. Me and a buddy were in a gun shop checking things out when I saw it in the display case. I want to say the price tag was either $70 or $80 dollars or thereabouts.

Apparently the gun shop had been burglarized and this was one of the guns that had been stolen. It was later recovered and returned to the shop (Along with most of the other stolen guns). Because it had been stolen, they had it marked as a "Used" firearm even though it had never been shot.

The store owner called my dad and he gave approval for me to buy it. I put a down payment on it right there and then and a week or so later, we both came back to the store to pay for the remaining balance and fill out all the paperwork.

I had the square butt modified to a round butt as it fit my hands better:

My 18-2, originally purchased from Ed's Gun Shop (in/around Saginw, MI?) for $84.65 on March 28th, 1966

IMHO the Model 18 is the MOST FUN GUN ever to leave the S&W factory

Thanks for the info, mic214; that's a nice looking configuration.
Here's my contribution; a pre-18 purchased 1-1/2 years ago (for considerably more than what you paid, mic):

I've shown it before, and I'm not afraid to show it again. My only 18, with Fishpaw maple grips, and an El Paso Saddlery holster. I don't want to sell it, but I really don't like it all that much. I just prefer 17's for plinking, and something even lighter for packing around.

Sweet!!!!! I just purchased an 18-3 made in 72-73 according to the number. I pick it up this Wednesday, maybe earlier. I think its in good condition, but, if it looks half as good as all those here, I will be a happy man!!!!
