.......I really need to know what to do. Got a chance to buy a N.I.B. Ruger 50th Anniversary .357 Blackhawk for about $400.00. Don't own a single action, but I really like these, and it seems a good deal. I've even considered a .44 Special conversion, since I live close to John Gallagher, whose a single action guru. Or.....a three inch Model 60-4 with adjustable sights and J frame target grips. No box with this one, but a pretty desirable Smith. I already own a new Model 40-1 Centennial. What would y'all do? Both about the same price. Love to hear objective opinions.

Get the 60-4! I got one earlier this year, nice gun, unique and you certainly won't see too many of them. They are nice shooters.

I'd probably get the model 60, but it would be close, especially if I really wanted a SA. Here's another thought, get the 60, then save up for a S&W model 14-4, I know it's not exactly the same thing as a ruger, or colt, but it is SA only!
And, you keep buying smith's!

I own a number of Ruger Blackwawks and my 50th 357 is the best one by far. I did have Hogue make a pair of fancy walnut grips which are not only beautiful but also fit my hand better than the factory plastic grips. I have a 28-2 and a 686 Clasic Hunter, and the 50th is still my favorite. I would not convert it to 44. Instead, buy a 50th 44 Mag flat top. They have a 6.5" bbl and shoot very well. And don't fear the lock since it is under the grips and totally out of sight.

Just answered my own question and bought the Blackhawk. He is bringing it over tomorrow. May have to go get it tonight. Hope this thing is as good as it looks. All it needs is some pimpy grips to set it off.

I'd get the 60-4......I have had Blackhawks and they are OK....but just dont float my boat(which is just me I suspect) and I do like the single six and other Rugers

If you can't swing both, I'd get the 60-4. You can always get one of the Rugers down the road easier than you can the 60-4.

Rugers are like dirt, they are all over the place. 60-4's on the other hand, were a limited production item and will only go up in value.

One saving grace to this is that I owned the 60-4 before and foolishly sold it to this guy. He is a good friend and doesn't really want to deal the Smith quite yet. We have an understanding that I will get first shot when he does. I've got to get this Ruger paid for first; we are friends, so we sell to each other on the old "dollar down, dollar a week" payment plan. I've just paid him off for one gun; guess it was time for another.

Buy the 60, Rugers are nice guns but aren't worth the price of the plastic box once they leave the store. Smiths, at least hold their value.

Enjoy the Ruger. I have three of the 50th .357s and a 50th .44. Great guns.
