Saw this firearm at a LGS today. The frame is blued while the cylinder, yoke and ejector rod are nickel. The cylinder has an "N" stamped on it. I'm not interested in purchasing it but I am curious as to its origin. Did S&W ever produce a revolver configured like this or is this a custom modification. Thoughts?
The factory made at least one large production run of model 38s with 'stainless' cylinders and the yokes on these were blued, so I suspect Cpl. Coffman is correct. Perhaps he was a Detective in his prior position?
Thanks for the info. It caught my eye as I walked in. I was compelled to pick it up and exam it. I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this one I've classified as "odd". No offense to others that may find it appealing. Thanks!
