Greetings,
I'm slow getting on board, but I'm looking for a small framed, 4" barreled, double action Smith revolver for my young son's introduction to DA S&W revolvers. I found 2 very nice pistols today at the gun show, a Model 34 that was LNIB for $500.00, and a LNIB Model 63 also for $500.00. Neither had the box or papers, which actually doesn't matter to me as I'm a shooter, not a collector. I think these are known as "Kit guns" and are J frames. What is a reasonable price for one of these revolvers. Also, are there any other candidates that I should consider?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Dave

I think the best you could do is about $50 off either one. The prices are close to in-line.
P.S. They can't be LNIB and not have a box.

That's a fair price for both, they ain't gonna get no cheaper, finish of course is your preference, I would think it's gonna get some use so I would opt for the 63.
Great gun to start your son with.
Safe shootin

That Mod 63 for $500 sounds like a deal to me. They've been going for more in my neck of the woods.

When I was a kid my father had a nickel plated Smith 22/32 kit gun with 3" brl and a Colt Scout with a 4 ish brl. The Smith was always my favorite and eventually find one to add in my safe. Saying that, I picked u a full lug 4" 17 not too long ago so I could shoot cheap and still practice on my shooting skills. I love the revolver but it is a little heavy. One thing I have noticed is that the .22 lr revolvers and pistols are rising in price like crazy.

Thanks to all who responded. Okay, now that I know a little bit about the Kit Gun, I'll put it on the top of my wish list and start hunting for it.
Thanks again for your help and advice.

Dave
