Default My ''new'' Model 10 snubbie

She arrived today from a dealer in New York. Serial # puts the manufacture date at 1961. I took her out to the woods and ran 50 rounds down the pipe -- she shoots like a dream. The only problem is ... now I want another one.

Very nice George. Here is it's younger brother. My model
10 2" barrel, on the left of course. It is a 10-5. Does yours
have a dash?
2nd photo shows him lounging in a Ken Null RSS (Revolver
Super Speed), which I believe is from a Seventrees pattern,
that Paris probably "borrowed" from Chic Gaylord.

P.S. The gun on the right is also a model 10-6
with 4" barrel.

Phil, as you can see, sir, no dash. Four screws. A few moments ago, I removed the grip, and it matches the serial #. As Bill Murray says, ''So I got that goin' for me.''

I traded for this one today. It's a 4 screw no dash, serial number C517xxx. I'm a little confused as to the info in the 3rd Edition. It says serial number dates it to '61-'62, but it also says the 10-1 was introduced in 1959????

Well done, sir. A K frame snub is hard to beat. Only thing that makes them better, in my opinion, is a Tyler T Grip.

Can anyone provide info about running +p loads in a model 10 from 1961?

There are quite a few threads on the topic.

I understand that it should be fine for a solid steel "model numbered" gun. The +P rounds of today are really not all that "hot" compared to old loads. I occasionally shoot and always carry +P LSWCHP (158 gr) in my snubby model 10s, 64s, and even 12s....yup, Model 12.

Well you have the square butt snub, now you need a round butt snub. I also agree 100% with the comment about a Tyler T-grip helping.

Apparently, the disease is contagious. I won an online auction for thie 10-5 from 1963 this week. (Please forgive the "screen shot" from my cell phone.)

Best,
Charles
