Dashless 640 with +P 158-grain LSWCHP (Remington), always. Pocket carried in a DeSantis Nemesis or Uncle Mike's pocket holster, depending on the pockets of the pants I'm wearing. Mostly the Nemesis. Pachmayr Compac grips.

Dr. Butcher, MD. I like that name. In California's Imperial Valley years ago two doctors (and this is absolutely true) decided to open a practice together: Doctors Hollerhan and Yellen.

How about guns for the ladies?
My wife will shoot my 686 .357 with .38 loads (she really likes this and she's especially good with double action). I'm trying to load some light 9mms that I'm hoping she'll be able to shoot comfortably in my 3rd gen DAO (alum frame so it's not too heavy). I'm thinking that maybe she's a revolver person. She's kinda old fashioned like me.
Anyway, I'm trying to narrow down the field and get some ideas about what to try her out on.
My question is what do you ladies, or a lady you know, like to shoot most often? What kind do they carry??

When I was a cop (S&W M15 for on duty) it was the M60 for off duty carry.

Interesting that this thread has developed such a lifespan. I used to carry revolvers quite often when I was walking my dogs. We were usually in an area where it was possible to shoot a few rounds and I didn't want the autoloaders losing my brass. My dogs are all gone now and I use small automatics more these days - the latest being an XDs .45.
I still have my trusty 340PD, 442, and 432PD ready when/if needed. It is always hard to beat an airweight Centennial.

In 1968, when I started as a young LEO, I purchased a Colt Cobra that now is in semi-retirement. Normal EDC is either my 442 or 642 w/the FBI +P load. As someone stated earlier I am just more comfortable w/a revolver, and my retirement travels are pretty tame now a days.
I do have a Keltec P32 that gets carried when very deep concealment is necessary. That is the only sub-compact semi auto that has ever worked 100% for me. The Glock 23, my service weapon that was retired with me, is the only other semi-auto that has worked 100%, but is just too big and heavy to be an EDC.

Tried off duty approved Glock 27 - success! The belly rig is most likely sized for a D frame Colt or J frame Smith. Used left side holster compartment for an extra magazine. It felt good to be able to discreetly carry again in such circumstances. I can't wait to get my M60 back from our retired S&W armorer. It has some issues that need attention before it is placed in the carry rotation. Still on the lookout locally for a shooter grade Airweight Bodyguard/Centennial or a Colt Cobra or Agent. (not the parked one). I would feel just as well armed with 2 revolvers discreetly toted as opposed to just one semiauto handgun.

Have a few days off from work, so I went into "vacation mode" as far as CCW is concerned. Broke out the M10 4" standard barrel RB revolver and the old #6 Bianchi IWB holster plus one HKS speedloader and a Bianchi Speed strip all loaded with 158 gr. SWCHP issued ammo from the '80s. It carries very comfortably and discreetly while wearing jeans and a one size larger T-shirt. A jeans watch pocket is perfect to put a speed strip in, by the way.
I need a new IWB holster for this revolver. Any suggestions from the S&W jury?

as the weather and situation permit, these are the most carried:
-Colt Detective Special with Spegel Boot Grips, Roy Baker Pancake holster.
-S&W M-13 3", also with Spegel grips, in a Sparks belt holster
-S&W 340 PD airlight ti in a Sparks pocket holster or Renegade ankle rig.

Actually, I have two revolvers that I carry regularly, a model 60 and a 5" 629-4 Classic. The .44 mag. was my wife's request, it seems she wanted to make sure she was protected if we hike in bear territory.
Take care,
Steve

revolver carry which one????
My every day carry is a 386 2 1/2 inch thats ported and moonclipped I got her on the forum, of all places!! my favorite gun. If I am wearing a jacket, I subscribe to wearing a larger gun and I carry a 65 Sokol 3 inch and if I can a 66 4inch.
That rounds out my wheelgun carry armamentarium

Maybe it's because I learned with a revolver - I don't know. But I've been shooting now for 33 years (never fired a gun before my first LEO school) and I STILL feel better with revolver. Most of the time it's a 442. Rest of the time split between a Performance Center 3" model 66 or a 610.

My issue duty gun is an HK P2000 .40, but off duty, I usually pack a S&W M442 in a pocket holster during warm weather, but when temperatures drop I substitute a Kahr CW40 in an IWB rig.

An H&R Model 925 "Defender" top break in .38 S&W or a Galesi .25 Auto. Both because they are lightweight and very easily concealable. And reliable.

Now it's mostly a 351PD AirLite-with an ugly Hogue grip-or an Interarms PPK or PPK/S .380.

My off duty concealed carry revolver is a 642, or a M66 snubby. The M66 is my favorite handgun on the home front while working outdoors, or hiking in the woods.

I used to carry a Ruger LCP as my primary ccw, however after buying my first revolver, a S&W 30-1 and shooting it I feel in love with it and decided in my situation, it fits me better as my ccw, and since have started carrying it.

642 PORTED with LSWCHP 158 grain I was not looking for this gun but after seeing the price I could not pass it up. I like the white dot front sight a lot.
The 36 reminded me of my uncle Jack who packed a 36 appendix carry in of all places NJ back in the 60s . He knew the right people I guess. He also made holsters for the Philadelphia PD. So when I saw it at a fair price I just could not resist.
[IMG] [/IMG]
This old timer with Grasshorn Grips has been my standard for over twenty years now. It likes my Bianchi R9 AKA Steve McQueen upside down bullet holster a lot.
Why a wheel gun some wonder.
Well no function issues. No bullet set back from loading and unloading for storage like a bottom feeder.
No worry about reloading since two J frames pack as easily as a bottom feeder and spare magazines. Plus it is nice to have a spare for a friend if need arises.
The Milt Sparks VM II works great for IWB 4 o:clock with the 642 left front pocket.

Occasionally a Glock 26 or an old 380 Beretta but most of the time I
carry a md 37. A few times I have thought it prudent to have a back
up and so carried my 37 and 60 both.

EDC is a Model 38-0 and a Model 638-1 - both carried in either a #3 Uncle Mike's or a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. If I feel the need for a larger gun, I'll carry either a 3.0 inch barreled K-frame, or a 2.5 inch barreled Model 66.
Regards,
Dave

Short answer is, it all depends on what I'm doing and how long I'm away from home. Model 37 in the "crack" holster is my go to for walking the dog or a quick trip to the stop and rob. Dress up is a Mdl 64 3" or Mdl 19 snubby in OWB pancake at about four o'clock. Truck gun is a Mdl 65 4". The Glk 17 and S&W 59 are back-up's.

I carry a "well carried", 4 digit serial # Baby Chief in one of Bama Biker's custom carved floral masterpieces!
As one of the oldest rats in the barn, I think that it fits my persona!

I have CCW a Blackhawk .41 magnum, Blackhawk .357 magnum, and Ruger Security Six .357 magnum. I now carry a Colt Commander .45 ACP, or a SW Model 642. Use both IWB and OWB holster for each depending on what I am going to wear and where I am going. I love revolvers but that Colt .45 is amazing.

For years I carried a 1911 or a K-frame S&W (.357). As I have gotten older the guns have gotten smaller and my choices these days are a Glock 43 (9mm) or a S&W 442. The 442 probably get the most use because it is a great pocket gun for that quick run to the store. No holster required.
