I assume this being the S&W forum revolver section most people here carry a revolver for CCW, but perhaps not.
What do you carry; revolver or auto? If revolver, what is your primary carry?

I frequently carry an auto, but when I carry a revolver it is usually a 642 with +P hollow points. I have recently acquired a Colt Agent, and it will see some carry duty as well when I get a few more rounds through it. It's not a Smith, but it has 6 rounds vs 5.

A 637 or a SP101-DAO. Both work nicely in a front pocket. But so does a 3913.

My normal carry gun is a . 38 Super Colt Lightweight Commander that I converted to Winchester 9x23. However, my wife and I do a lot of riding on our Harley-Davidson Electra Glide during the summer months. While on the bike and at other times when it's inconvenient to carry the Commander, I'm carrying either my Model 37-1 or a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog Pug. The Smith .38 Special is loaded with Buffalo Bore Standard Pressure, Short Barrel 158 gr. LSWCHP's while the Bulldog .44 Special is stoked with Win. 200 gr. Silvertips.

Usually a 640 no dash with buffalo bore 158+p. other times a sig 228 w/ federal fst 147 gr or a mod 65 with 145 gr silvertips. depends on the weather, what i'm wearing and where i'm going.
cheers

normally a Kahr PM9 collects the most lint from my pants pocket but, during jacket season, I've been known to carry my 65-5 4" with a "kitchen table" hammer bob, trigger job, and melt down.

My 3 season gun is a 2" Colt Cobra. Winter calls for the 3" S&W 65. On rare excursions into Detroit, it's the M&P40 with 2 extra mags.

I split duty between autos and revolvers, but when it is a sixgun, I carry either a 4" 686 or a 4" 629.

Often carry a 4" 624, but when size is an issue, it is a 60-9.

A S&W Chief's Special or Centennial has been with me almost every day since 1980.
Sometimes it is a backup, but more often it is a primary firearm.

My usualy carry piece is a DA 9MM but I have carried revolvers for years and still do on occasion. I like the Model 40 very much but I have also packed a 2" M64 and even a 3.5" Post-War magnum and once in a while when I am in a silly mood I carry a 4" Registered Magnum.

IMHO, anyone who TRULY carries on daily basis has a J-frame in the rotation stable -- if not their 95% gun they carry (like most I know, but we live in hot weather area too).

A 2" Model 64, .38 Special most days, cairried in a Don hume JIT Slide, with a spare HKS speedloader on the belt in a Wild Bill's concealment speedloader pouch.
Sometimes a 4" Model 66 .357 in a Wild Bill's "Summer Special" IWB holster.

Most days, it's a 642 in the front pocket. When I travel outside of the small town I live in it's a Glock 23 .40 cal. So I'd say that 90% of the time I carry a revolver.

I carry every day, and have for many years. Most of the time, my primary is an auto, 1911-persuasion, usually in 9x23, 10mm or .45ACP. However, my backup is more often than not a Smith J-frame or a Colt D-frame revolver. When I do carry a revolver as primary, it is usually a 3" 681+ PC, a 629 Mountain, or a 3" 65 with bobbed hammer.

When in or close to the big city my Colt Commander in 45acp is slipped into my waistband.
My 90% carry has lately been a 2" model 12.
With a big-bore Smith revolver in the console.

I always carry a 340M&P w/ Speer 135 357 SB's in my front pocket. Back it up w/ a 342 w/ Speer 135 38+P's on my ankle.
For when I'm in higher risk areas, a 325PD 2 1/2" w/ 45 Auto Rims; a 21 w/ 44 Spl. DPX or a 640 w/ Speer 135 357 SB, all in IWB carry.
This results in a plan that can be easily modified to fit the weather, clothing requirements, etc. and also allows access to a CCW gun in various positions, driving, sitting, standing, even if on the ground.

Alternate between Glock 19 and a 640 .357....both loaded with Gold Dots. Really like carrying the revolver, so I may pick up a 3" 686 or 66.

Usually a 2" Model 15. Occasionally a 325PD or a light J-frame or a C*** Agent. Used to carry a stainless Government Model with a Model 37 backup. Might conceivably do it again.

Most common for me to carry is a 638 in my pocket. I do sometimes carry autos (mostly Glock) depending on the situation.

Most often a 340 M&P with lazer grips or a Kahr PM9. When I feel I need a lot more I pack a Glock 33. All are carried in Kramer pocket holsters. Sometimes I sustitute a 642 or model 38 for the 340.

When I carry a revolver, infrequently these days, it is a 66-2 2.5", or 66-4 3". Regards 18DAI.

I carry a 340 in my pants pocket....
Desantis fabric pocket holster...
CorBon 125gr hp............
The N frame does not pocket well, but is a great shooter.......so I wear it on my hip in the winter....
My favorite is really the Shorty 45, but it is a bit bulky....wear it occasionally....one of the finest, most accurate guns made....

A 640 .357 with Speer GD 135 .357's 99% of the time. When the blue moon shows itself and I can't figure out how to hide the 640, it's a Seecamp .32. The rougher part of town and road trips usually see both. For the woods it's a 35 oz. Taurus Tracker with 300 gr. hardcast 44 mag. I love Smiths, but a 329 seemed too light and a 629 seemed a bit heavy, so I traitored out with the Brazilian piece. But I always have something on me other than a sharp stick.
