I have acquired a S&W 17-2 K-22 6 inch with target hammer and trigger, 99% in the box. I am sure it is all factory. Now the funny part. The serial number is stamped under the ejector star on the cylinder. I have seen the serial number stamped on the rim of the cylinder, but not under the star??? Am I just slow and not paying attention, or is this unusual???

S&W couldn’t decide where to put it once they moved it from the back of the cylinder around 1957-58. Yours seems normal to me.
