Walked into the LGS. They had bricks of .22 ammo laying around for sale at normal prices. My mind was so freaked out, that when I saw this 36-1 3" in excellent condition for $495, I just bought it!
No turn line, no marks, look at the pic of the burn rings - it doesn't look like its ever been fired. I have a 2" 60 and more than one 3" K's, but no 3" J.
Questions:
1. S/N is 882JXX - yep, the 'J' is in the middle. Looking at the S&N 3rd edition, my best guess is this is a 1971-72 production?
2. I had been looking for a new production 3" 60, either pro or regular. I shoot 98% .38 special and .357 capability is not a big deal. So I'm thinking, in terms of quality, future value, etc. that this is a better 'deal' than paying $700ish for a new production gun. I'm talking 'value' & not bashing the new production guns in ANY way - I would have bought one had I been able to find one. So; $500 for spotless 36-1 or $700ish for a new 3" 60?
3. And here's the toughest question; this thing doesn't have a mark on it. Should I turn it into a safe queen or a shooter???
Oh, and I also got a brick of .22...
