S&W Model 34 "Make Date"?

Hi All,

Friend of mine recently purchased a very nice (mint, box and everything) S&W Model 34 for his wife. (That way I got my Model 63 back she had been shooting and would not return!)

Serial number is M794XX. Can any one tell me about when it was made?

Mid-1970's.

It's actually a 34-1, but some were marked as a "MOD 34". The "M" prefix started in 1969, because of the GCA-68.
