The serial number dates it to 1974.

I have a Model 19-3 with a serial #2K83XX (it is on the bottom of the grip and under the cylinder extractor rod / yoke area on frame, but only has 4 digits not 5).
When was it manufactured?

2K is probably 1970. 8K is maybe-probably 1975.
