Default 629 Carry Comp

I have been looking at one of the original Performance Center 629 Carry Comps from the early 90s. I believe this was a limited run for Lew Horton.

I love the way the gun feels and I especially like the fixed sights. The gun is tight with good lockup and has a great trigger. Unfortunately, the gun looks as if it was stored in a glove box with several nicks and scratches. The scratches will buff out and most of the nicks are shallow and could probably be taken out with a little work.

What would be a fair price for this gun?

How rare are these? Should I just look for the current model with the lock instead?

A friend bought one of the new ones with the "IL" and while happy with it would have rather had one w/o the hole...

You will pay in the $900s for one with a lock...if you could get a decent one without for the $700s I would consider it a bargain...

Bob

ps...when you buy it try the Speer 200 grain .44 Magnum Short Barrel load...200 grain deep HP used in the .44 Special load at 1080 fps...expands EVERY time...

I recently was lucky to find one without the lock and I have been looking for one within reason for a few years....I did some trading for this one but I would say the no locks bring 1000 or better ....I too had thought at one time well Ill just get a lock version but I'm glad I didn't.

I went with the new carry comp after watching the numerous on line sites
and seeing the exobinate prices that the older 629's were going for, I was able to rangle a good deal on this one. Regardless of IL it is a keeper. Had not seen one for 700.00?
