Default Model 10

I'm new to revolvers and:

I picked up a Model 10-8 last weekend at a local gun show. Engraved "IAC Billerica MA". I'm guessing used by a guard working for the IAC outfit.

I think it is early 1980's: serial number AAYxxxx. Can anyone verify this?

Sure has a great trigger pull in single action!!

Thanks

ROAD RAT

Sounds more like an import mark.

Agreed. Most definitely sounds like an importer's mark.
The Model 10 is famous around the world and
many served in foreign countries.

Follow the link, maybe you can email them and they may be able to give you some info on the 10. They also have a toll free phone number.

Interstate Arms Corp

Okay. So Interstate Arms Corp imported this Model 10 back into the US. Put their mark on it. Sold it as a used firearm.

Any idea when the serial number AAYxxxx was manufactured by Smith & Wesson?

Thanks
