anyone have experience with the 625 JM?
Seriously thinking this may be my next purchase. Wanting some input from some owners. I would use it for range and would like to start into IDPA where i think it would work for the Enhanced Service Revolver class.
Looking for any experiences, good or bad.

I purchased one of the first issue of 625 JM with 5 1/4 inch barrel ca 7-9 years ago. Then the "gods" at IDPA changed the rules for maximum barrel lenght to 4 inches. Needless to say I did not chop or change the barrel. It's a excellent gun with a very smooth action. I still shoot it at our local IDPA matches where the club does not get very serious about rulke compliance. I also use it for USPSA and steel shoots. No revolver reloads faster than a 725 with moonclips. Gravity and those big holes make for real speedy reloads.

I see tons of this model for sale on the favored auction sites. I guess a lot are being made, and a lot are being sold. Some folks like his grip real well, and of course it's made for quick handling. I've spent some time with the fellow it's named after...and he is quite a guy, the quickest by far and you should see him do steel plates...just a blue.

I've used the 625 JM for years in ICORE and IPSC. Still compete with it.
If I had to start all over, I would probably have a 610 built with a custom 5in, half lug barrel. The 40S&W would keep you in major PF and 6 shots would keep you in limited.
Since you'll be limited to a 4in barrel for IDPA, the 625 JM will be just about the best you can do for this game. If you decide to compete in any other sport such as IPSC, you will still be competitive. In ICORE you will need the 5in 627, 8-times to be competitive.
There really is no "perfect", there's only a best compromise that fits within the parameters of "use". For IDPA I couldn't think of anything better than a 625 JM
