S&W 686, 6rd, 2.5" - reasonable pricing?
Hello All,
I'm looking to purchase a new Smith & Wesson 686 Distinguish Combat 357 Mag 6rd revolver, 2.5" (SKU#164231). The recent traveling gun show didn't have one and neither do the local gun stores. Everyone seems to have the 7rd Plus models but not the 6rd.
In looking around I've found the following pricing. Does anyone know of a better place to look or does this pricing seem reasonable?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

You might be able to find a recent, lightly used example for about $600, but $650 sounds about right for a NIB model currently.

Try a search on slickguns.com, if you have not done so yet. Bob

Don't worry about buying on-line. I've bought from Bud's and grabagun. Both make it easy, have FFL's close by and usually very good pricing.
I've got 2 LGS's I've bought a good many guns from. I'll call or stop by first and give them the chance. Of the last 4 firearms I've bought 2 have been on-line and the other 2 from the LGS.
If I was hot for a 2.5" 686 6 shot (nice choice by the way) and the LGS's couldn't get one I'd order on-line in a heart beat.

Bob, that's a good site. It is where I got the list of initial prices & dealers.
Thanks,
Chris

I tried my LGS's (Northern VA) and they didn't have it / couldn't get it. Some wanted to order a 686 from the S&W Performance Center (@ $1K+ ) and others told me better deals were had online. So I thought I'd ask here.
I've purchased guns online before and it looks like the route I'll take this time as well.
Thanks,
Chris

IMO,the 686-4 6 shot were the best 686 made to date.
The 2.5" 686-4 is best but excellent to LN can run up to $850 in my area where demand for them is high.

I think anything with FREE SHIPPING is a good buy! When I do my research on pricing I take price of gun + shipping + FFL transfer cost, so most of the time the free shipping gun would be in top running. Plus some of the places that charges for shipping just call them and if you are Active/Retired military or a 1st Responder they will give you a discount code to use for free shipping.

In upstate NY, I saw a 686-4 2 1/2" and grabbed It as soon as I found out it was a 6 shot. Around here pre-lock 686s run from $600 to $800 depending.
