Those would be factory round butt combat grips on the 686, quite desirable grips in todays world. Nice pair of snubbies you have there.

I do not believe, based on on info provided that either are Jovino guns. I do not thnk that Jovino worked on 686s, and the N frame does not look like his work. There were a lot of imitators of the "efector" and some were actually good products.

The second gun is by Magnaport. Can not swear that the first is a Jovino, but sure is a fantastic weapon.

I have a letter from Roy Jinks that my 686 no dash was shipped to John Jovino Inc. in March of 1986 stating it started out as a 6'' barrel and was cut down by Jovino and marked "Effector".It now has a 2 3/4'' barrel measured from the cylinder face to the end of the muzzle. This shows that Jovino did work on 686's.My 686 looks just like the one pictured except his is listed as a 3'' and mine is 2 3/4''.

I'm loving that Mag-Na-Port gun Richard. Those were the hot ticket in the late '80's when I first discovered handguns. Thanks for sharing it. Though made on several platforms, they were initailly known as "Mini-Mag" Conversions. Some guys (Narcotic Officers and UCs ) really had to have a concealable Magnum revolver and Mag-Na-Port obliged. These, and the Jovino guns preceded the Lew Horton offerings by several years............. Zebulon
