Check out the Safariland speed loaders. They have three styles depending on what you plan on using them for. Enjoy. Great stocking stuffer gift. Happy Holidays!

the comp III seems to be the right one...not much clearance around the grip on the 686. do you have any experience with either one of these?

I have heard good things about Safariland Comp II and Comp III loaders. I have a couple of HKS loaders for 586/686 (came with the revolver when I purchased it) and I'm not a big fan.

We were issued Comp II's along with our 686's. They are excellent; just insert and give it a push. The cartridges release cleanly and you are in business. Very smooth and fast, with practice.

I have used HKS, but prefer the Comp II.

I use the Comp IIIs in Blade Tech holders for my 686. They are the hot ticket for IDPA/SSR competition, but are also the most bulky for concealed carry.

I've got a pile of speedloaders including comp II and III's from Safariland as well as some from Dade and SKS. I don't care for the HKS at all. Sloppy and too easy to dump unintentionally. For Safariland, I find the Comp III is to large to be practical for anything but duty belt carry. I like the Comp II's more compact profile and easier loading characteristics better. That said, I like the Dade speedloaders best for every day/general range use. Functional and simple works for me. ( p.s. I get my Dade loaders off Ebay. Several good dealers there. You can get great deals on them there if you buy 3 or more at a time. You're going to want at least 3 too!)
