I've only seen the 3, 3 7/8, 5 and 6 1/2 inch myself, don't recall one being listed.

The lengths 'handgunner356' listed were the only production barrel lengths ever offered. The 3-7/8" barrel is also occasionally described as a four incher.

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for options for a full lug, 8-3/8, magnum N frame. I figured the 10mm was a magnum .40

Barrels listed above are right, and the factory did call the 3 7/8" barrel a 4". Typical, since S&W has always varied barrel lengths anyway, calling them a "nominal" length.

Here's one they should have made as a standard production gun.

That's a 4" (3 7/8") barrel.

My Model 610, with 6.5" barrel and fluted cylinder, was purchased new in December, 1998. It doesn't have the internal lock. It was also ordered direct from the distributor by my dealer, but I don't remember which distributor he used. I do remember that I had my choice of either fluted or unfluted cylinder at the time, and I chose fluted.

At the SHOT Show in 2000, I spoke to the head of the S&W Custom Shop, and he told me there had never been a 610 through their shop up to that time.

Hope this helps.

Fred

Here's my family portrait of 610's. I would love to find a 4" without the IL.

I wish S&W would make the 610 in Mountain Gun format. I've got a boatload of 40 ammo and nothing to shoot it in anymore. I really do prefer the revolver but don't care for the full lugs they seem to put on all the 610's.

They should have made a 610 with the full lug 8-3/8 barrel.
